Special Effects Painting

Paint and glazes are a wonderful medium to transform a room. They offer endless possibilities: for example, transparent glazes can be laid over a base colour and over other layers of colour to achieve subtle nuances in the finish.

Traditionally special effects include stencilling, colour washing, stippling, dragging, wood graining and marble effect.

Nowadays different techniques can also be mixed to achieve new interesting finishes for walls, ceilings, woodwork and furniture.

With the use of multiple layers of lacquers or coloured varnishes one can create interesting and deep patinas too.
